Sushi on the Sea

Inspired by my favorite food - sushi, this concept explores my memories from my trip to Japan. Rivers filled with beautiful boats, cafes by the bay, and restaurants with sleek cutlery, this project is a product of all my observations. The piece is shaped like a boat and the chopsticks resembles the rowing paddles.

Process

  • The prototypes were milled using foam and plywood. The process started with milling three completely different forms. Several different iterations and sizes of the selected form were worked upon. The lip of the tray was prototyped with plywood. Finally, a few different forms of the legs were created and eventually the final prototype was created using cherry wood.
