White Oak Nightstand

Designed to fit the aesthetics of my room, I created a solid white oak nightstand, finished with natural stain and a coating of bee's wax conditioner making it waterproof and resistant to scratch.

While the entire piece was handcrafted, the table's side planks were milled using the CNC to cut out squares, which embraces itself as a decorative statement. The tapered legs come together to make the nightstand sturdy with the help of 10 dowel joints.

Concept Board

Process

  • Based on my concept board, I enjoy throwing out every single idea that comes to my mind. The process involves making a few forms and then making iterations for those forms. For this particular project, I explored ways to play around with the side planks and legs of the night stand.

  • After form exploration, I made tiny scaled models of a few different forms. This was done to get a better look and feel of the final product.
